Important Tips Regarding Your Bike’s Serial Number. As soon as you get a bike you should record the bike’s serial number. There are two things you should do immediately. First – write down your bike’s serial number onto a paper and store this in a safe place. Secondly, take a photo of your bike’s serial number and email it to yourself. Up for sale is my father's English Hercules 3 speed bicycle. He bought this new as a kid. That dates it to the late 40's to early 50's. It is all original as far as I know. This would be a great candidate for a restoration. The hub is not marked with a serial number. Suggesting pre 50?
